DANONE's Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition business offers a wide range of specialised nutrition products and services to address the needs of people for whom a normal diet is insufficient or unsuitable. Our consumers include patients with medical malnutrition, and those who need help to manage their condition in specific disease areas, to alleviate disease symptoms or to delay the progression of disease. With more than 1,500 employees in over 30 countries worldwide, we are Danone's most specialised division, and a leader in the rapidly growing medical nutrition category.
The department
The Medical Affairs department is responsible for the conversion of scientific data into a compelling communication to Health Care Professionals in line with DANONE business objectives. Furthermore, the department is driving the relationship building with international Key Opinion Leaders. Working closely with Research, Marketing, and Regulatory a constant stream of innovation is brought to the market. To strengthen the team we are now looking for a Global Health Economics Managers.
Mission of role
Drive acceptance, access and use of Medical Nutrition through delivering robust and credible health economic (HE) arguments
Become thought leader within the Medical function on HE. Drive recognition of HE as a way to achieve higher business value through reimbursement and price level, both in reimbursed and non-reimbursed markets (direct and indirect value respectively).
Key Accountabilities
Strengthen, communicate and implement the HE strategy to facilitate acceptance, access and use of Medical Nutrition worldwide through:
1) Generate new country-specific HE data aligned with CBU needs:
- Manage the tailoring of existing HE data/models to support country-specific needs.
- Working in close collaboration with Scientific, Medical and Market Access colleagues gather and interpret relevant clinical data to allow building of new HE models.
- Conduct new HE analyses/modelling based on existing clinical data, either alone or in collaboration with external HE experts.
- Ensure inclusion of appropriate HE relevant end-points in clinical trials.
2) Leverage existing HE data in all CBUs:
- Synthesise existing data into value added articles, reports, messages.
- Formulate HE messages and arguments to support commercial efforts, e.g. reimbursement dossiers, tender applications.
- Support local GMs and Medical Directors in effective communication and interaction with external agencies in HE matters in order to maximize market access and market penetration.
Coordination, development of processes and internal guidance on HE:
1)Evaluate CBU HE needs:
- Generate in-depth and up-to-date understanding of HE requirements for Medical Nutrition at national level. leverage this knowledge internally to drive for maximum efficiency and effectiveness of HE activities.
- Guide CBUs re generating stakeholder insights on HE needs.
- Establish an internal network to coordinate and facilitate information flow on HE and market access.
2) Internal education on the role of HE and the value it can bring to our business:
- Deliver HE toolkit for CBUs.
- Knowledge source regarding HE techniques; provide expert advice, training and education on HE matters, either alone or in collaboration with external experts.
- Establish HE presence on iLearn and DMMU.
- Provide guidance to CBUs on methodologies/data needs to assess cost of malnutrition/burden of disease.
Establish network of external HE experts/consultants to provide advice and collaborate in HE related projects.

- Independent self-starter and an excellent coordinator of HE projects, both internally and externally.
- Ability to build a strong network of external HE specialists to generate the data needed to drive acceptance and use of our products.
- Highly developed communications skills and able to influence people of all levels.
- Professionalism and attention to detail which sets the highest standards for quality, accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to be pragmatic and creative, making the best use of available data to achieve business goals, whilst ensuring a robust and credible approach.
- Ability to translate complex HE data into simple to understand language.
- Excellent business English skills
- Academic background in economics, statistics or life sciences and a relevant postgraduate qualification in HE or statistics (or equivalent qualifications).
- Industry (pharma, Medical Nutrition) experience in HE field a must.
- Sound knowledge of HE techniques and methodologies, including clinical trials, data access and modelling
- A result driven and customer focussed mindset
- Coaching skills to develop internal capabilities
The Global Health Economics Manager will be located at Danone Place Schiphol near Amsterdam and will be travelling within the job ca. 2-4 times per month.
Motivation
Our candidate should have/show willingness to develop a passion for Medical Nutrition, and embrace the challenge of being a pioneer in a new area. He/she must be willing to create something almost from scratch. Therefore; he/she must be open to new things, willing to be creative, be open to work in an environment which has relatively few processes and guidelines and where function will evolve over time.
He/she must be quick to learn that Medical Nutrition is not pharma, that useful base data can be relatively limited in some areas and that this requires a pragmatic (but robust) approach rather than a pure academic view. At this point, there is limited/minimal HE knowledge/expertise in Medical Nutrition both externally and internally.
